The three police officers who are accused of killing 16-year old Nathaniel Julies in Eldorado Park last year have appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court as the murder trial resumes.
Facing a number of charges including murder, perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of ammunition, the officers have pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Julies family are praying that justice reigns and that the officers face the full might of the law.
During the eNCA livestream an eye witness recounted how she saw the officers putting his body into their police van before driving off.
“I saw the police officer walking towards the truck, he was bending like he was looking for something next to the truck. The next thing, he picked up the boy and put him in the back of the van. He got into the van, put the siren and he drove off.”
The state is aiming to prove that the officers defeated the ends of justice by attempting to hide evidence after they killed Nathaniel Julies.
Constable Caylene Whiteboy and sergeant Simon Ndyalyane are each facing a charge of murder, while sergeant Vorster Netshiongolo is charged for being an accessory to murder.
