Thuso Mbedu is back in South Africa after spending months overseas and no one is more excited than her close family and friends.
‘The Underground Railroad‘ actress decided to surprise her loved ones by not telling them which day she would be back on African soil.
There were tears and excited screams when she showed up “out of the blue”. Thuso shared a heartwarming video of the moment she reunited with her family.
Her sister Noma Mbedu was so surprised that she ended up throwing a stone at her. Noma also gave Thuso a flying kick before finally hugging her.
See their cute reunion below.
Securing the bag
Thuso has been securing the bag in America. Not only did she play the lead role in an Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime series, but she is also set to star alongside Viola Davis in, ‘Woman King’.
The 30-year-old also made an appearance in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Show Vol. 3 last month.
When she is not featuring on the covers of magazines such as ‘W’, she is attending red carpet events with A-list stars.
But regardless of where she goes, there is no place like home. Thuso spoke about her family during a June interview with Vogue magazine.
“In my nuclear family, it’s just my sister and I that’s left. She has a daughter, and then we have cousins, but it’s a few.
“We didn’t have a relationship with our father’s side of the family, but an entire generation passed away while we were still young—even our grandparents from that side have passed away—and then from the maternal side, my grandmother had seven children and only two are surviving now. So we try to keep in contact as much as we can, but as the years go by, it’s getting smaller and smaller,” she said.
