Mapping out your spiritual heritage can be a powerful experience. It’s an opportunity to thank the people who have planted, sowed, nurtured the seeds and garden of faith you now reap from.
It’s a reminder that you’re a part of something bigger and as some Midday Joy listeners shared, it’s about living up to the name you were given. Spirituality is a separate path to religious beliefs and often you will hear of people talking about being “spiritual beings.”
How familiar are you with your family history? Do you know your ethnic heritage or the names of your ancestors?
Christianity as an example, is the living, breathing evidence of the faithfulness of God to fulfil His promises, to do exactly what He says He will do. It’s the modern-day generation of an ancient family line that stretches back more than three millennia.
Here are 4 ways you can tap into your spiritual heritage:
- Your Roots – Thank God for those He placed in your life to help you grow spiritually. Include their names in your prayers.
- Your Fruit – In the boxes flowing from yours, capture the names of anyone you’ve already helped grow in Christ. Feel free to add more boxes!
- Their Fruit – Connect with those you’ve invested in and ask whom they’ve gone on to help grow. Include them on the tree and pray for their perseverance in following God.
- Your spirituality – Pray for God to reveal and guide you to who else He is calling you to add to your spiritual family tree.
