A case of “theft of essential infrastructure” was opened by Sergeant Thela of City Power Risk Management.
Thela says that City Power is liaising with the school and the community to help find solutions to protect infrastructure theft because it affects them directly.
“We are appealing to the community members to assist us in finding the perpetrators.”
“The theft of our infrastructure includes cables, substation doors, fuses and busbars.”
Thela says that in some cases perpetrators are also heavily armed.
City Power believes that the perpetrators received internal help.
In addition to reported the case to SAPS, an internal investigation was also launch.
