Ace Magashule will be joining Point of View with Phemelo Motene tonight at 8PM for an exclusive interview on the latest developments with his case, suspension and his future in the African National Congress.
In early May, suspended secretary-general Magashule launched a court bid challenging his suspension following the party’s implementation of its step aside policy.

Magashule said the court got it wrong and he maintained his belief that the party’s step-aside rule was unconstitutional.
Earlier this month Magashule argues that the court erred in holding that Ramaphosa’s suspension was not lawful without giving any explanation for that conclusion and in the absence of a counter application seeking such relief by the president.
“The court erred in accepting the theory that the outcome of the litigation regarding alleged violations of the executive ethics code by Ramaphosa as a head of state had anything whatsoever to do with his admitted use of money to influence ANC conference outcomes,” he argued.
He was suspended on the basis of the step-aside rule after he was criminally charged in connection with a multimillion-rand Free State asbestos eradication tender.

Counter-suspension of Cyril
Magashule also suspended President Cyril Ramaphosa as ANC leader in terms of resolution 8.2 of the party’s 54th national conference held at Nasrec in 2017. He urged ANC members not to “bow” to illegal and unconstitutional actions.

Magashule’s corruption case suspended
The corruption case of Ace Magashule and others has been postponed to 19 October. The matter was postponed because new counsel had been appointed for some of the accused.
He has on multiple interviews said that his charges have been fabricated and are factional.

He and his co-accused have been charged with fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering, among other charges, relating to a R255 million contract for the assessment and removal of asbestos roofs and/or housing.
Selective implementation of NASREC Conference Resolutions
He recently also spoke out about how leaders of the ANC have asked him why the party is in a rush to implement the step-aside resolution and not other decisions taken at the national conference. In a recent interview he spoke about how the party has ignored the resolutions they made as a collective.
“And that’s why one of the leaders said to me, of the four I’ve consulted, he said ‘tell me why is the ANC in a rush to implement this resolution? They can’t implement, and they have reasons even without trying, to implement the nationalisation of the Reserve Bank, expropriation of land without compensation, free education, why are they in a rush to implement this one and for these other resolutions they have reasons why they cannot be… is this one not going to divide the ANC further, is it not going to narrow the base of the African National Congress?” he asked.
