Thembisa Mdoda Nxumalo has been fighting for her life in hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19.
The South African actor and television star is finally out of hospital and recovering at home.
Thembisa shared details about her battle with COVID-19 since April.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the star thanked doctors for helping her.
“It is with great joy and gratitude to announce that actrees and TV host Thembisa Nxumalo ( Nee Mdoda) has been discharged and recovering at home from a brave fight with long Covid,” read the statement.

The television personality detailed how it was a scary period for her and how she was in and out of hospital.
“I was in hospital on and off for two months from April before spending a full month in hospital recently. It has been a frightening time,” she wrote.
The star thanked her family for their support.
“My children and husband have been my saving grace and I can’t thank them enough. It has been a frightening time, I am thankful to the specialists that monitored me carefully, who were able to diagnose and treat me,” she wrote.
The star announced that she will not be returning to work any time soon. According to the statement, doctors have advised that she takes six months to fully recover.

Thembisa is booked off work, doctors have advised that it will take up to six months for her full recovery.
The star said she is grateful to be able to go and recover at home.
“I will play the best Covid patient when I return to work, God knows I have done the research through my experiences which was both daunting and educational,” she said.
“To be able to leave the hospital and go straight home is a blessing I do not take for granted.”
