Born in Durban and raised in Pietermaritzburg, Palesa Nomthandazo Phumelele “Zoe” Modiga, recently gave Afropolitans a taste of the her sophomore album, “Inganekwane,”. The album has been in progress for three years, following Modiga’s critically acclaimed debut Yellow: The Book. Inganekwane’s She performed live on Kaya Breakfast with David O’Sullivan, Thabiso Sikwane and Jason Goliath, celebrating the month of #Folktober.

The album explores more about identity, healing with song like Lengoma playing on multiple meanings on the words ingoma (a song) and ubungoma (healing). Songs like Umdali,the second single addressing the relationship with the maker, and how our stories could not always have been fulfilled by our ancestors.
