It’s been a rough year for the movie industry at large, with the COVID-19 pandemic pushing back production and forcing a much-loved cinema-house to enter business rescue. Now that a vaccine is doing its rounds and some normalcy returning with an ease of regulations, we look forward to some cool releases this month.
“Tom and Jerry 2021”
A big release for the little ones (or the kid in you) is the Warner Brothers feature of the rival cat and mouse duo, Tom and Jerry. The pandemic may affect worldwide release of the animated movie and Warner Brothers is considering an HBO Max streaming release.
Expect this out on the 11th Feb.
“The Mauritanian”
A detainee at the US military’s Guantanamo Bay detention centre is held without charges for over a decade and seeks help from a defence attorney for his release.
Directed by Kevin Macdonald the film is based on the 2015 memoir, “Guantánamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Salahi, a true story of Salahi’s experience of being held for 14 years without a charge at the infamous detention camp.
The movie drops on the 17th Feb.
“Cherry”
Marvel’s Spiderman, Tom Holland, stars in this intensely heavy story about an army veteran who suffers from PTSD.
Holland has been busy with roles in the “Avengers”, “Uncharted” and now this 26th Feb release which got the thumbs up from Ironman himself. Robert Downey Jr. praised Holland’s role and the movie, calling it a piece of cinema that it should be watched multiple times.
