South African media personality Zodwa Wabantu was apprehended by the police over the weekend after allegedly flouting lockdown regulations.
She got arrested at 03:00 am on Woman’s Day 9 August.
She had been making her way home and was arrested 8 minutes from her home. In her post on social media she said:
“We have the permit to Work all time in the media Space not Club. I have other Projects on TV, I was almost home 8 minutes to my house.”
Her arrest shook many on social media who were seemingly amused that her work was deemed essential while others were concerned about the treatment she received from the police.

She documented her experience at the police station in a video that raised many people’s eyebrows.

Zodwa Wabantu says the officers who detained her did not want to see her work permit but were interested in her paying a R5000 fine.

A social media user also posted a video of her at work at a popular club in Kwa Thema, a township south-west of Springs in the district of Ekurhuleni.

According to the Disaster Management Act the following are fines associated with breaking lockdown regulations as gazzettted by the government.
She recently trended after revealing that she had a one-night stand with Black Motion’s Thabo “Smol” Mabogwane.
The media personality made the revelation to Lasizwe’s recent episode of Drink Or Tell The Truth.
