
US student accepted into 125 universities, with R171 million in scholarships.
A high school student from New Orleans may have broken the record for the largest number of scholarship award.
Dennis Barnes, a senior at International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO), surpassed the previous Guinness Book of World Records holder Normadie Cormier by receiving a stunning $9 million (R171 million) in scholarship offers from 125 colleges and universities.
Cormier, a student at Lafayette High School who received $8.7 million in scholarships from more than 130 institutions in 2019, previously established the record.

Barnes had applied to over 200 schools across the US.

In a video shared by WWL-TV from New Orleans’ he shared how his mail box started overflowing with acceptance letters,
“I submitted college applications in August, with an eye on raising the bar high for college admissions.
“Decision letters were an overflow in my mailbox and hundreds of scholarship offers,” Barnes told WWL-TV of the achievement.
