Tshwane Mayor responds to claims that water tank operators are exploiting residents in Hammanskral.
According to Tshwane executive mayor Cilliers Brink, the city is looking into claims that a water tanker mafia is operating in the cholera-stricken neighborhood of Hammanskraal.

Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Tshwane executive mayor Cilliers Brink following his Monday afternoon press briefing, where he gave an update on what is currently unfolding in Tshwane.

Brink says there’s still an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the outbreak.
“It’s very difficult to determine, as we need to have a positive test. Cholera is usually a waterborne disease, but it can also spread via food and poor hand hygiene and those are the two factors that are critically important…. in order to contain this spread, we need to cast the net wider and wider.”
“As much as we can speculate about where this comes from, we need to determine the exact cause of the out break.” says Brink.
