Thoughts and prayers have been requested for South African boxer Ludumo Lamati who was hospitalised following a fight in Belfast, Northern Ireland over the weekend.
While an update from Lamati’s team indicates that he is in a stable condition, the unbeaten featherweight fighter collapsed in the ring on Saturday, 27 May.
Lamati went up against English boxer, Nick Ball, taking several knocks in the clash, before returning to his corner and collapsing.
The 31-year old was transported to a Belfast hospital on a stretcher, where several scans and tests were done.
In an update from his team, Lamati’s results were said to be positive, but a status of his injuries and a recovery time has not been disclosed.
“Updated scans from the medical staff in Ireland have been completed and the results back from the surgeons have been positive.
The team will now look to reduce Ludumo’s medication tomorrow (31 May). This will start to bring him out of his induced state, and give us the status of the injury with a more informed diagnosis of the recovery time needed.
We thank all South Africans for the well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.”
