AKA has come under fire from his followers for losing his cool when a fan “begged” him for a chance. The disappointed aspiring artist reached out to Kiernan Forbes in the hopes he would listen to his music and give him a shot.
Instead of breaking it to the fan who looks up to the SA rapper, AKA took to his social media sharing a screenshot of the message he was sent.
“I’m done begging you to listen to my beats. I’m done begging you for anything. Why didn’t you tell me from the beginning I’m nagging you?” the text read.
Unclear how to respond to the message, AKA shared the conversation to his timeline, asking how he should even respond.
Many of his followers felt there was no need to call out the sender so publicly, saying he should have simply privately responded.
Others felt it wouldn’t have taken much effort from AKA to just listen to the person’s submission and help him out.
“He’s a talented fan asking, < BEGGING> for a chance and you just had to be your usual arrogant self and further embarrass him on here These people look up to YOU and YOU wanna ask twitter how to reply like it’s rocket science.. like u haven’t been in that position before.”
This was one of the responses to AKA
Not taking kindly to the advice he received, AKA lost it with his fans and responded telling them it was a waste of his time.
“Yall think this game is for everybody. Newsflash. 90% of everybody’s music is trash. I had to exchange many numbers before we could even get the CHANCE to be in the same studio as KHULI or KO or Linda … you think you gone just text me & I’m just gonna put you on my back? You dreaming!”
He took it back to when he lost his fiancé Nellie Tembe, reminding everyone that there was a time he was down and people wanted him cancelled.
“Ya’ll told me my next hun must sleep with a parachute on her back. Suck it the F**K up!”
AKA tweeted
He is reportedly dating Nadia Nakai.
Many tweeps felt he was acting immaturely and called him out for the lack of respect he was showing the people who support him, his fans.
“Everyone deserves a chance. What happened to ubuntu? Some of you celebrities are gatekeepers of success, when there’s enough for everyone,” was one of the sentiments shared.
A few SA artists spoke out on The Ultimate Kaya 959 Top 30, about the hip hop industry in the country being a dog eats dog world.
