Yesterday, Gauteng’s Department of Education issued a statement informing the public that the deadline for 2022’s online admission for Grade 1 and 8 has been extended to the 10th of December 2021.
A frustrated parent called us yesterday to share her concerns – her two kids, one going to Grade 1 and the other to Grade 8 next year, have not been placed.

Wendy from Protea Glen shares, “my kid was in grade 7 in 2019. The school he got accepted to is not the school that we wanted, and it’s not even a good school. I’m not sure if the department is aware,” she said.
Another listener from the same area says that the process is not working for her.
“These online registrations are not working for me. I tried registering for my niece, and I got feedback after a while. The school that she is accepted to is not the school that I wanted,” she expressed.
Sophia says that the system is flawed. “I applied online; my son will be going to Grade 8. I applied for eight schools within 30 kilometers. We going to end up having our kids in schools that we didn’t know., the system is flawed”, she shared her concerns.
A listener who finds the process daunting says that her child is in Grade R but hasn’t found Grade 1 placement in that school.
