We’re officially in December and hoping this year will be different as Covid-19 spoiled all our plans last year.
December is when most people are celebratory; some people are already on holiday, and others are looking forward to Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The icing on the cake for employees is the year-end function.
“What has been your best or worst experience at work year-end functions?” Ask Thomas and Skhumba in The Morning Show today.
Reactions from Kaya 959 listeners
A listener shares that his most memorable year-end function ended up as a street bash.
“One of my most memorable Christmas Parties was a company I worked for in Midrand – It was so lit, it ended up as a street bash,” he said.
Another caller said that the weather today has spoiled their party as their theme is swimwear.
A caller who asked to remain anonymous revealed that their year-end function was the worst ever.
“We had our year-end function last week, and it was the most boring, it made me even consider looking for another job. We didn’t even have alcohol, management gave us expired drinks, there wasn’t even any music,” he shared.
“Some companies are lucky to have year-end functions. At our company, we don’t have such. Last year our bosses gave us hot dogs and popcorn,” shared another listener.
One listener got so drunk at their year-end function that he started reprimanding his boss. “We had one in 2004, and it was an open bar. I got so drunk that I started reprimanding my boss. In 2014,” he said.
