Do you feel pressured to get married? It might be your spouse or your parents who constantly dropping clues about you walking down the aisle, but being pressed to get married is highly stressful. But how can you approach the problem tactfully? If you’re feeling pressured to get married, try these suggestions.
1.Never Give In
It would be a severe mistake to give in when you are under pressure to marry. You need both partners to be wholly committed to the project, or you’ll have troubles. Agreeing to marry only to maintain peace will make you angry in the long run. It’s also not fair to your spouse if you’re not fully committed to both them and the notion of marriage.
2. Already Committed
Many parents exert pressure on their children to marry for religious reasons or believe children should be born solely within the context of a marriage. However, whether you choose to have children or not, you may be just as devoted to someone without a legal wedding. And marrying someone will not solidify a weak relationship, but will permanently sever it.
3. When You’re Ready
Even if you desire to marry, the moment may not be perfect for you right now. Inform people that you will marry only when you are ready. Emotional blackmail may be utilized, which is unacceptable. If this happens to you, tell them you understand how they feel, but you must do what is best for you.
4. Different Views
Sometimes you find it necessary to marry even though you aren’t interested in the notion. If this is the case, explain that you have opposing ideas and cannot marry solely to satisfy someone else. Tell them that you appreciate their opinions, but that those are their opinions and that you are equally entitled to your own – which may differ.
5. Being Sure
Nobody gets married expecting it to fail. They don’t believe that if things don’t work out, they can always divorce. But one thing you must be sure of is that marriage is appropriate for you and that you have chosen the right partner. So inform your pressed parents or spouses that you need to be sure. Someone who cares about you should be able to understand fully.
