South Africans have yet another electronic ride-hailing option available. Taxi Live Africa, a homegrown product, has been designed for metered, private and owner-operated taxis to take part in the app-based cab hailing services.
Luvuyo Ntshayi, who is the founder & CEO of Taxi Live Africa says South Africans have been using apps that are not of South African origin, “Taxi Live Africa is 100% South African owned, this app is designed to understand an African business model, with features that allow the driver and user to communicate to our support team in real-time.”
Ride share is highly contested in South Africa with giant players including companies such as Bolt, inDriver and dominant Uber already in the market. Registration for the app is growing. Within two weeks of the app Ntshayi says it had over 700 drivers. They are currently operating mostly in Kwa Zulu Natal (Durban).
Safety for Users
With growing concerns arising this space Taxi Live Africa has gone the extra mile to ensure that users feel safe any moment of their rides.
“We have an emergency button activated in the app. Users can use it to contact the police, or a trusted person should they experience any trouble with any driver on their trip.”
