Eskom and the City of Johannesburg have reached a renewed payment agreement after threats of electricity interruptions over billions owed to the power utility.
Eskom has threatened to interrupt electricity supply to parts of Johannesburg over more than R5 billion owed by the city and City Power.

A suspected cable thief was arrested after becoming trapped inside a mini substation in Johannesburg. The rescue operation caused further damage and led to temporary power outages in Fleurhof. Authorities say at least 16 substations have been vandalised in Roodepoort this year, with investigations ongoing.
