“Our people comrades also want ANC leadership that will never allow a repeat of the financial misconduct at which monies meant for service delivery was invested into mutual banks like VBS,” he said.

Mathabatha also called for the ANC to reduce the number of NEC members from 86 to about 40.
“As the delegates, you need to accept the responsibility to channel the organisation to a new direction, ask yourself very difficult questions. I always ask myself one question when I go to the NEC, do we really need this big NEC in the ANC if we are serious about renewal. Can’t we have an NEC with less than 40 people, you know you have got an NEC of about 86 people you raise your hand today you will talk after two days,” said Mathabatha.
