The boxing fraternity was left stunned over the weekend when a bizarre incident occurred during a televised match.
Simiso Buthelezi, a lightweight boxer, is undergoing medical care after worryingly punching thin air in the final round of his most recent boxing match, seconds before his victory.
In a shocking twist of the event, Buthelezi was believed to be comfortably beating Siphesihle Mntungwa late in the 10th and final round for his WBF African lightweight title fight against Siphesihle Mntungwa when his opponent slipped through the ropes.
When Buthelezi appeared to lose his bearings, Mntungwa regained his footing and was ready to resume the fight.

The fighter’s first inclination was to press forward as if the referee was his goal, before moving into the corner and throwing fists like he was shadow boxing.
The referee immediately noticed that something wrong was happening and called off the fight.
