Former Supersport and Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo announces his decision to retire from professional football at the age of 33.
This comes after consideration by the player and lengthy consultations with his family “I have decided to announce my decision to retire from professional football with immediate effect,” he announced.
Ntshumayelo notes that it was a decision that he “didn’t take lightly” because football has been a part of his entire life. He does not take the opportunity to have played professional football lightly. “I feel privileged to have realized my dream of becoming a professional footballer,” added the midfield maestro.
The 33-year-old expressed many thanks to his former clubs, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates, for the opportunity to realize his dream.
“To my supersport family, who gave me my big break to turn pro at the age of 18, I will forever be grateful for everything you have done for me.
“It was also an honour to represent one of the biggest clubs in Africa, Orlando Pirates. It is for this reason that I would like to express my attitude toward Dr. Irvin Khoza for giving me an opportunity to represent his big institution,” said Ntshumayelo.
The player also thanked his parents and partner, who have been there for him in “good and bad times, “I wouldn’t be the man I am today without your love and support.”
