Renowned South African gaffer Rulani Mokwena has officially been appointed as the new head coach of Algerian Ligue 1 champions, MC Alger.
The announcement was made by the club on Sunday, confirming Mokwena’s return to the dugout after parting company with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in May.
Mokwena (38) has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with “The Dean of Algerian clubs” and is tasked with leading them in the upcoming 2025/26 season, which includes a highly anticipated return to the CAF Champions League.
He takes over from Tunisian coach Khaled Ben Yahia, who left MC Alger despite guiding them to a league title and Super Cup triumph last term.

Mokwena’s appointment has generated considerable excitement, as he is one of Africa’s most highly-rated young coaches.
