Orlando Pirates have officially ushered in a new era, announcing the appointment of Abdeslam Ouaddou as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The highly anticipated news comes just days before the Buccaneers are set to depart for their pre-season training camp in Spain, where Ouaddou will take the reins for the first time.
Ouaddou steps into the role vacated by Jose Riveiro, who parted ways with the club just before the conclusion of the last league season.
Under Riveiro’s leadership, the team’s performance in the recently concluded league campaign was a mixed bag. While the Buccaneers showed flashes of their potential, they ultimately struggled to maintain consistency, finishing outside of the top contention spots.
Their standing in the league left many fans yearning for a stronger challenge for silverware, a challenge Ouaddou will now be expected to address.
