Andile “Ace” Ncobo, a prominent former Premier Soccer League (PSL) manager and football referee, was released on warning by the Kempton Park magistrate’s court on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, after a day-long bail hearing.
Ncobo is facing a charge of common assault following an alleged incident of domestic violence on 28 June.
The charge stems from allegations that Ncobo pushed and slapped his partner in Kempton Park West.
While Ncobo is married, he was reportedly living with the complainant at the time of the alleged incident.
His wife was present in court, offering her support.
Ncobo’s lawyer, Leon Khoza, argued for his client’s release, emphasising Ncobo’s full-time employment and the fact that eight children are dependent on him.
Khoza also highlighted that the complainant had initially opened the case but later dropped the charges voluntarily.
“It goes without saying that the complainant voluntarily made that statement without any influence, and that information comes from the state – not the defence. It shows the accused never communicated or intimidated the complainant,” Khoza stated.
