Orlando Pirates have officially confirmed the acquisition of Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch FC, bringing a high-profile pursuit to a successful conclusion.
The New Zealand international makes the move to Soweto following a highly influential stint in the Western Cape.
De Jong, who joined the Maroons from Royal AM in January 2023, quickly established himself as a linchpin in Steve Barker’s tactical setup.
Operating primarily as a “number 10,” de Jong’s statistics underscore the creative void he will leave behind at Stellenbosch.
During his tenure, he made 103 appearances, netting 16 goals and providing 11 assists.
According to reports, the club made an official approach on the September transfer deadline day; however, the move was blocked at the eleventh hour as Stellenbosch were unable to source a suitable replacement in time.
