- Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng is reportedly set for a move to Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise.
- The 21-year-old sparked European interest after helping South Africa secure a historic spot in the World Cup knockout rounds.
- The proposed four-year deal would link the attacker with South African technical staff already established at the Brussels-based club.
Just three days after South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup journey came to an end, Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng is on the verge of a high-profile move to Europe.
The talented 21-year-old has reportedly agreed a lucrative four-year deal with Belgian Pro League runners up Union Saint-Gilloise and is expected to fly directly to Belgium from the United States to finalise the transfer.
Mofokeng caught the attention of international scouts with his impactful performances during Bafana Bafana’s historic run to the tournament’s knockout stages.
After changing the game from the bench against the Czech Republic, he earned starting spots against South Korea and Canada, notably shining in South Africa’s crucial 1-0 victory over the Koreans.
If the move is completed, Mofokeng will link up with fellow South African youngster Shandre Campbell, who currently plays for Club Brugge.
Settling into life in Brussels should be made easier by the presence of former Mamelodi Sundowns academy head Shawn Bishop and former Pirates assistant Chris O’Loughlin, who both hold senior technical roles at Saint-Gilloise. The club also previously launched the European career of Bafana icon Percy Tau.
