English Premier League Champions Manchester City is on the verge of signing Chelsea player Mateo Kovacić, 29.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, City has agreed to personal terms with the Croatian. City’s coach, Pep Guardiola, is said to be an admirer of the 29-year-old.
Romano says Kovacić wants the move; the next step has to be between clubs, as Chelsea and City will discuss fees after the UCL final.”
Kovacic completed a permanent move to Chelsea in 2019 from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.
The Uefa Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan will take place on Saturday, June at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
This is the second UEFA Champions League final to be staged at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, with Liverpool having beaten AC Milan on penalties at the same venue in the 2004/05 Champions League. The Reds triumphed on penalties despite trailing 3-0 in the first half. Their win was defined as one of the greatest comebacks in football history.
