Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with club legend Bernard Parker.
The club has announced through an official statement that they will “sadly not renew Bernard Parker’s contract when it expires at the end of June 2022.”
Parker will leave the club after 11 years of service.
He joined Chiefs in 2011 from the Eredivisie side, FC Twente, and played 359 matches for Amakhosi, scoring 62 times in those appearances.
Parker helped the club win four major trophies, including two PSL titles. The club says “his professionalism, both on and off the field, is an object example to any aspiring young footballer.”
Closing off the statement, the club thanks him for “his great service to the club.
Check out some of the reactions from Kaizer Chiefs fans on social media:
Die Hond, Bernard Parker, I might be celebrating your departure from the playing field at least for Chiefs. But I am wishing you all the best in your next chapter, hopefully you will one day play some role at Chiefs. You served us well, leaving as the highest top goalscorer (PSL) pic.twitter.com/RAmGMu0uxr

The club and the coaches over the years did Parker dirty. He's been a model professional but because of their insistence to play him every game plus the club not doing well we have turned against him. We're celebrating his departure instead of celebrating his service to the club
