Undefeated boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather Jr will be touching down on SA soil in December.
Mayweather Jr who has 15 major world championship titles under his belt, will be touring the country from 12 December.
The retired professional boxer will be the guest of honour at a charity gala dinner hosted by World Wide Scholarships (WWS).
Africa’s leading talent identification, opportunity and scholarship linking organisation has partnered with ONAPS Foundation, The Money Team -Front Row Entertainment, Mayweather Promotions and The Fifteen Foundation for this.
The Captains of Industry Knockout Dinner taking place on 12 December 2022, will be centered around the spirit of victory and youth empowerment with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
A percentage of all funds paid towards table bookings and partnerships for the gala dinner as well as donations received will be distributed towards a development fund that will train and develop top talent from Africa towards scholarship opportunities worldwide.
CEO and Founder of WWS, Munya Maraire says; “We are honoured to host a legend like Floyd Mayweather Jr who is an inspiration to all sporting youngsters and boxing lovers alike.
The sad reality is that Africa is a continent filled with natural talent just waiting to be discovered and moulded into champions. However, we need the resources to train and develop the God given talents of these youngsters to help them achieve their full potential.
Due to a lack of resources and financial support, Africa can also be a place where talent is born to be undiscovered. Being part of empowering Africa’s talent through initiatives such as Floyd’s visit to South Africa goes a long way in helping our youth achieve greatness. We will also be looking at creating a strategic pathway for young African boxers to gain opportunities worldwide through this initiative.”
