Springbok Flyhalf, Elton Jantjies has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility for drug abuse.
According to Sunday Newspaper Rapport, Elton is seeking help to get his mental health, personal health, and rugby career back on track.
This comes after several scandalous incidents that the Flyhalf was involved in.
Recently Elton was omitted from the Springbok training group ahead of the team’s European tour taking place next month.
Elton also made headlines after it was alleged that he was in an affair with the Springboks Dietitian Zeenat Simjee, to which Zeenat vehemently denied that she was having an affair with Elton.
Not to mention, Elton was also arrested on charges of maliciously damaging property during a flight from Dubai to Johannesburg in May this year.
According to reports, during the time of the alleged affair, Elton offered drugs to one of the waiters at a Mbombela guesthouse where they were staying ahead of the Springboks’ clash with New Zealand.
On Friday Elton released a statement to his Instagram noting that he was seeking help to get his life back on track.
“I have kept to my public and personal promise to seek professional help and focus on my mental health to ensure that I get my personal life and career back on track. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve been training throughout, and I’m in a good space mentally and physically”.
Elton continued: “I have no doubt this decision will benefit me personally, my rugby career, my family, and SA’s faithful rugby supporters”.
