Radio presenter and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo takes time off his radio show at Metro FM when he requested time off from his responsibilities at the public broadcaster.
The SABC confirms that Somizi met with Metro FM management who have granted him permission for the break.
In a tweet, the SABC acknowledged the social media comments around the abuse allegations his estranged husband Mohale made against Somizi and wished to inform the public that the broadcaster does not condone any acts of abuse and violence.
The Corporation has also noted the comments on social media about Mr. Mhlongo and we would like to point out that the public service broadcaster does not condone any acts of abuse and violence”.

Over the weekend Mohale Motaung’s explosive interview with Sunday World revealed a dark side to the couple’s relationship.
Leaked audio from the recorded interview that has been circulating on social media detailed shocking incidents where Mohale feared for his life and touched on sexual infidelity within their relationship.
Since the Sunday World article was published social media users have been calling for Somizi to be removed from his on-air gig at the public broadcaster.
This Mohale and Somizi’s story is terrifying. Queer people don’t talk enough about domestic abuse in our relationships which is very rife! It is even crazier because victims can hardly speak up because their abusers are faves amongst the queers, so people keep it moving.

There’s so much double standards on this App… When Sjava was accused of issues such as these ones, they went to eat him alive on Twitter and took him out from the nominations… Manje Somizi is on the same page but he’s out here securing deals and what what… Nisile kule App.

What was done to Dj Fresh and to Katlego Maboe must also be done to Somizi.
We want him off our TV shows, off radio, off everywhere for what he did to Mohale.
