With cases of monkeypox on the rise in at least 12 countries, Thomas and Skhumba ask if we “should we start preparing ourselves to call for travel bans from these countries?”
Especially since monkeypox is already being given an African face even though one African country is yet to report any cases.
“They are giving Moonkeypox an African face, they are giving it African narration. They are giving it an African stigma,” adds Skhumba.
A listener shares: “The whole of Europe will have Monkeypox and Africa will not put a travel ban on any European countries, we can even bet on that.”
Anonymous believes we should be closing our borders. “We know about Covid and we didn’t close our borders and it spread like wildfire,” she adds.
