Is it true that the older we get the more unhappy we become? Could this be because life starts to come at us hard or we come to the realization that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side?
Especially when we get to our 40s, we just can’t seem to find anything to be happy about besides the immediate things we have.
The Best T in the City listeners share their thoughts on the subject:
A listener shares: “I believe that the older we get the unhappier we become. Our parents used to say grow up and you’ll see.”
Judith says we should be at peace with where we are. “I’ve learned that you should let go of what you can’t control and be at peace with what you have. I’m happy because I’m content,” she shares.
Anonymous says a lack of money is the main cause of unhappiness in adults. “Life is a hierarchy. The more money you are able to provide the happier you become. So if you can’t provide as an adult that’s where a lot of pressure comes through.”
Listener reactions on Twitter:
This though is what I think could contribute to sadness in aging, you’ve more responsibilities, more commitments, more expectations. Mid 40s, most likely you have kids, a job, or business. So life is not just about you anymore.#AdultsGetSadWithAge

@tboseZA #AdultsGetSadWithAge I disagree, in my mid forties I’ve never experienced such in my life. The quietness it’s so bliss no drama and one can complex issues look simple.

That is why I let my kids enjoy every second and wouldn’t yell at them when their clothes were full of mud because the responsibilities and restrictions of adulthood takes away our dreams and freedom.
