Mabandu reflected on the importance of experiencing live music, and how we all found ourselves missing it.
“All of us who enjoy live music, know how impoverished we were that we couldn’t sit in a theatre, or a club etc. That is the real deficit we are all recovering from and we prayed hard that this other thing that was being announced by way of monkeypox doesn’t become a problem.

On July 9, 2022, at 19:00 at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria, charismatic guitar prodigy Sibusile Xaba will have the opportunity to sit down for a discussion with Percy Mabandu on the Dashiki Dialogues followed by a solo performance.
According to Mabunda, over the years, Sibusile Xaba has developed a distinctive musical style that combines and reframes maskanda music, malombo, and avant-garde jazz into a personal credo for humanism.
