Midday Joy with Andy Maqondwana featured Fabulous by Jahiem as the track “You Cannot Unhear” this Tuesday.
Released in 2001 with Jahiem’s debut album, Ghetto Love, the song makes reference to the phrase, “ghetto fabulous.”
Thus the track was titled Fabulous, with the American RnB artist giving listeners a mental visual of life in the hood.
He does this without demeaning the people who live there. Whenever someone is called “ghetto fabulous” it generally means that he/she is from a low income area.
Despite this the individual is still able to look high-end without flashy or expensive items of clothing.
The 43-year old artist has other hits which include, Put That Woman First, Just In Case, and Finding My Way Back Around.
“Prepaid cellies for local calls
One of the verses from the track
Little dons and divas up at the malls
Rocking cornrow twists, that’s how we ball
Don’t hate on us we’re fabulous
