If you’re banking on getting a partner allowance for the duration of your relationship, forget about it. The number of men who are against giving their partner financial benefits while dating is increasing.
Founder of the “Stingy Men Association” (jokes) Sizwe Dhlomo is against a partner allowance. The proud Zulu man says there’s no way he’s giving his partner any financial contributions and she should be able to provide for herself.
He’s a firm believer in an equal partnership and says his girlfriend is financially independent within their relationship.
This isn’t to say that she’s not cared for but the expectation that he should cover her personal costs is not something that he will tolerate.
Talking about the stereotypes between different cultures, the Kaya Drive team share that they believe Pedi men are the stingiest.
“Pedi men have to run every cent they spend past their mothers. Whether they’re living at home with their mother or not, they will not give you anything unless their mother knows about it.”
Kaya Drive ladies talk about the stingiest men they’ve dated
One of the Kaya Drive listeners agreed with the team, saying that her experience with a Pedi man left her literally and figuratively high and dry.
“I agree with Nyakallo Tefu, Pedi men do not part with their money. Pedi men are the stingiest, then comes Sizwe Dhlomo, then comes Philasande, then comes Venda men guys!”
Philasande is Xhosa and he doesn’t mind the stereotype about being firmly part of the Stingy Men Association.
“Yoh guys, with Xhosa men, all you get is heartbreak, steer clear.”
Contrary to popular belief Siz, Zulu men are actually known for their generosity, especially when it comes to their woman.
They are rather popular picks when it comes to dating because of this, maybe Siz is just the exception to the rule?

The Stingy Men Association came about as a fictional organisation of men who were against spending money on Valentine’s Day.
Every year there’s pressure on men to spoil their partners on the day with roses, chocolates, and other gifts, including planning a fancy dinner.
However, the “association” has grown beyond that with more men speaking out about dating broke women.
