Every entreprenurial dream always has a begining and the story of the founder and chief executive of VAYA Footwear Themba Makamo, is one inspiring one.
As someone who’s always had a love for sneakers he took it upon himself to creat a much loved South African brand of sneaker that continues to grow in popularity.
Makamo recently took time to share his journey on Kaya Biz’s Ekasinommics feature with Gugulethu Mfuphi.,
The shoe as Makamo says is all about it’s name which is ‘Vaya’ which means ‘get up and go’, a philosophy that’s meant to inspire those chasing their dreams to get up and go them.
He said “Our whole vision is about helping ambitious people reach their goals.”
“I always tell people, and sometime they take it jokingly, is that, if you Vaya sneakers and it doesn’t inspire you to go foryou dreams, we haven’t done our jobs, because its a sneaker for ambitious people.”
“The uniqueness of the sneaker was that it was designed for when someone wears it, it must just inspire them to just go for it.” says Makamo.
