The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) in Kwazulu-Natal has evicted a military ex-wife and her family of foreign nationals from the military home she was living in.
Obtaining a court order, SANDF evicted the woman, her two daughters and two Nigerian family members who were occupying the house with her.
The woman was married to a SANDF official who retired from service and divorced her. He left the military house to her and their daughters in the divorce.
The couple’s two daughters, 20 and 24 both have SA IDs. However, the woman invited her relatives to live with her.
SANDF said the housing scheme is for married military couples.
The property was searched to determine if illegal activities were being conducted on premises.
Assisted by the Berea police and members of the K9 unit, unaccounted bicycles and electronic equipment was found.
These were seized while a further investigation is underway.
The house is situated in Berea, Durban and has since been secured by SANDF.
