A preliminary report of the Parliamentary precinct fire is expected on Friday morning.
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure hired a team of engineers that include electrical and mechanical engineers to assess the damage.
The engineers will offer insight into the repair costs and the timeframe to complete it.
Fire experts and a fire forensics team were also hired to determine where the fire started.
The report will be shared with the National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and the presiding officers of parliament.
The biggest loss suffered due to the fires according to National Council of Provinces Chairperson Amos Masondo, is the loss of 2000 pieces of legislation.
The pieces were held in the National Assembly Chamber since the dawn of democracy.
The National Assembly Chamber was destroyed by the fire.
Areas that remain untouched by the fires are the additions made to the parliamentary building in 2008.
These include new offices that were built for the President, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of parliament.
