A house fire in Pretoria West claimed the lives of 5 people on Wednesday morning. The youngest member of the house was 6-years old.
According to reports, Tshwane Emergency Services were dispatched at 01h30 this morning after a call was placed.
Two family members, a 45-year old mom and a 3-year old boy escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and the City of Tshwane released a statement detailing the incident.
Tshwane EMS spokesperson Charles Mabaso said, “The first firefighting unit to arrive on the scene found the house fully engulfed by fire. Parts of the roof had collapsed. Bystanders informed EMS personnel that there were 5 people still trapped inside.”
The woman who managed to escape sustained minor wounds and was treated for smoke inhalation. She was taken to Pretoria West Hospital with the 3-year old boy for further observation.
“Shortly after arriving, firefighters discovered two bodies. The rest of the bodies were discovered once the fire was extinguished,” said Mabaso.
The victims included a 6-year old boy, 3 men aged 18, 22 and 24 and a 46-year old woman.
