The station unveils a refreshed weekday and weekend schedule, with Sweetness Motsepe, Dee Nkomo and Nonn Botha joining the Kaya 959 family.

Kaya 959 has confirmed the full shape of its next chapter, building on the announcement of DJ Fresh as the new host of Kaya Breakfast with a refreshed schedule across weekdays and weekends.
The line-up brings together new additions and familiar voices. Sweetness Motsepe joins Kaya 959 from YFM, Dee Nkomo joins from Capricorn FM, and Nonn Botha returns to the station, strengthening its weekend offering alongside its established weekday shows.
With DJ Fresh and Thato Mataboge leading Kaya Breakfast from 1 July, the station says the wider schedule has been built around how its listeners live, work and move through their day, from early mornings through to a soulful weekend listen.
Maekanya Morotoba, Programme Manager at Kaya 959, says the refreshed schedule gives shape to an important new chapter for the station.
“The announcement of DJ Fresh was a major moment for Kaya 959, but it was also the start of a bigger story,” says Morotoba. “We are now showing listeners the full picture. This is a schedule with pace, personality and purpose. We are excited to welcome Sweetness Motsepe from You FM and Dee Nkomo from Capricorn FM, and to welcome Nonn Botha back to the Kaya 959 family. Their addition strengthens the station’s connection with listeners and adds even more character to our weekend sound.”
The weekday schedule starts before sunrise with Let It Be, hosted by Xola Dlwati from 05:00 to 06:00, followed by Kaya Breakfast with DJ Fresh and Thato Mataboge from 06:00 to 09:00. Tbose continues with The Best T in the City from 09:00 to 12:00, followed by Andy Maqondwana on Feel Good from 12:00 to 15:00.
Kaya Drive runs from 15:00 to 18:00 with Glen, Skhumba and Kgomotso. From Monday to Thursday, Gugulethu Mfuphi follows with Kaya Biz from 18:00 to 20:00, then Phemelo Motene with Point of View from 20:00 to 22:00, before Mablerh closes the night with The Upper Room until midnight.
Fridays shift the evening pulse, with Bonolo Beesting hosting The Hive from 18:00 to 21:00, followed by The Upper Room with Mablerh until midnight.
Saturdays open with Thomas in the Morning from 06:00 to 09:00, followed by The Kaya Countdown with Bonolo Beesting, The Vibe with Dee Nkomo, Saturday Select with Sweetness Motsepe, On the Beat with George Manyosi and Nites Over Kaya with VK, who joined the station in August last year.
Sundays bring a more reflective rhythm, opening with Thomas in the Morning before Soulful Sunday with Nonn Botha, Spade of Hearts with Xola Dlwati, The Jazz Standard with Brenda Sisane, The World Show with Nicky B and The Lounge Experience with Sweetness Motsepe.
Morotoba says the refreshed schedule is built around the way Gauteng lives, works, moves and listens.
“Kaya 959 has always been about more than filling time slots. It is about companionship, culture, music, conversation and connection,” says Morotoba. “Our listeners are switched on, expressive and ambitious. They want radio that understands their world. This line-up gives them energy in the morning, ease during the day, personality on the drive home, substance in the evening and beautiful music experiences over the weekend.”
On the new and returning voices, Morotoba says each brings something distinct to the station. “Sweetness, Dee and Nonn each bring something distinctive. Sweetness brings warmth, musicality and an instinctive connection with audiences. Dee brings fresh momentum and a strong radio presence. Nonn’s return brings familiarity, soul and a deep Kaya connection. Together with our established voices, they help create a full Kaya 959 experience.”
Looking ahead, Morotoba says the station enters the second half of 2026 with renewed confidence. “We are excited about what this line-up unlocks. Fresh is part of the momentum, but the real strength is how the full schedule now comes together. This is about breakfast, weekdays, weekends, music, conversation and the complete Kaya 959 listener journey.”
The refreshed line-up confirms Kaya 959’s next chapter as one of Gauteng’s most distinctive, influential and culturally connected radio stations.
