Matriculants will have to wait a little longer for their final exam results.
Chief Director for Examination at the Department of Basic Education Department, Dr. Rufus Poliah, explained that most Grade 12s would receive their results on the 25th February as scheduled.
Poliah was briefing parliament’s portfolio committee in basic education about the state of last year’s exam leak and the progress made so far
The department has roped in a private forensic investigation company to assess the extent of the leak.
Quality assurance body Umalusi has also begun assessing the impact of the leaked final mathematics and science papers on the integrity of the senior certificate.
Meanwhile, the tertiary academic year will only commence after the matric results are released, with universities across the country set to reopen in mid-March.
