Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in parts of the country
The Weather Service has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, Free State, North West, and Northern Cape.
Strong gusts, significant rainfall, and hail were reported in several regions of the country as a result of a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the South African Weather Service.
According to the Red Cross, thunderstorms are lightning-accompanied, violent storms with intense rains that can result in flash floods, tornadoes, and lightning strikes that can start fires. Strong winds that have the potential to bring down trees, power lines, and mobile homes are all common features of thunderstorms.
