Controversial company Cartrack and the family of Gcina Dhladla have reached a mutual understanding following an incident that saw an employee lose her life at the company’s Rosebank offices.
Both Cartrack and the Dhladla family have agreed that investigations into the incident are ongoing and have committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement and all relevant authorities to establish the facts surrounding the tragedy.
In a joint media statement released by the family and Cartrack on Thursday, 11 June 2026, the family and company representatives described their meeting as both emotional and constructive, providing an opportunity for questions to be asked, information to be shared, and a better understanding of the events surrounding the tragedy.
Both the family and Cartrack are united in wanting the facts to be fully established through the ongoing independent investigations and are committed to fully supporting those processes,” the statement read.
Dhladla’s family representative, Thamsanqa Mbuli, thanked Cartrack for allowing what he described as an open and transparent discussion.
“We thank the love and support expressed by all South Africans and wish to remind everyone supporting our family that all the material facts surrounding our loss have not yet been established.
We ask for support in allowing the investigation processes to unfold without pre-empting the outcome. Cartrack employees are our brothers and sisters as well; let us not see them as enemies,” said Mbuli.
Gcina’s sister said the discussion between the family and the company had given her peace.
Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League has accused the company of taking advantage of South Africa’s high unemployment rate by allegedly subjecting employees to poor working conditions.
The Youth League continues to protest outside the organisation’s offices in Rosebank.

The league’s Zonke Vilakazi said they expect urgent action and accountability from the company.
“We have heard that this is not the first time this has happened, so we are going to come back. We need satisfaction and transparency,” said Vilakazi.
As of Thursday, 11 June 2026, none of the Cartrack employees had been seen outside the building since the morning.
It is understood that staff members remained inside the premises while the demonstration was underway.
