EFF and NCC members expressed their outrage, accusing the commission of tampering with the poll results. After the Democratic Alliance (DA) received one million votes in the province on Friday night, there was a lot of agitation at the IEC’s results operation center in the Western Cape.
IEC Head, Michael Hendikse spoke to Kaya News and responded to the rigging allegations. He emphasized that objections need to be of material substance to the overall result.
“The objections process is specifically aimed at objections which are material to the results. These are dealt with directly by the commision in Tshwane, so these objections are not lodged with us at the local or provincial level. I am not aware of the number. I know there is a large number beause I have been interacting with political parties on the here. Which is okay, it is their right.”
