A disturbing video of a female teacher being manhandled by security guards has raised concern.
The video was taken at St. Andrews International Primary School (SAIPS) in Malawi and according to sources involve a teacher who was reportedly suspended from the school.
In the video, Nola Formentin can be seen being dragged and picked up by four armed security guards.
She’s being held by her hands and feet, and is at one point dropped by the men, who then use force to try to subdue her.
According to Nyasa Times a publication in Malawi, Formentin was suspended by the school after she had allegedly sent out an email to parents involving the head of the school and a junior teacher.
Formentin is said to have detailed professional misconduct by both staff members during school hours and on school premises.
Whilst she was being assaulted and manhandled, no senior official from the school was present, nor did anyone intervene.
The incident took place in the presence of other teachers and a few parents who were attending a sports event.
All security guards involved were reportedly arrested following the incident and further investigations are underway.
Further investigations are underway to determine if Formentin did send the email to parents.
