The 28 sheep were reportedly stolen from a farm, crammed inside a minibus taxi, and left on the side of the road.
Police are looking for the culprits responsible for the theft of the sheep.
Colonel Adele Myburgh, a spokesperson for the North West police, said that authorities received information about a suspicious car on the N12 between Potchefstroom and Fochville.
