A video of looters raiding an alcohol truck while police do nothing to stop them has gone viral on social media.
In a clip shared by an appalled witness, two police officers from the Glen Visible Policing look on while scores of motorists stopped to help themselves to crates of alcohol from a broken down truck.
While it’s often advised not to judge a situation from a short clip, the police officers in question appear to be directing the looters to the alcohol, instead of stopping them or upholding the law.
One would think that after the traumatic events of the July unrest and nationwide looting, that the South African Police Services (SAPS) would be better equipped to deal with looting incidents.
One of the officers signals to the witness recording the looting to move along. The gentleman can be heard saying, “I’m going to put this on the news, this is going on the news. Look at the f**king police allowing it.
SAPS has not responded to the incident or answered social media users questioning how the two officers just stood there doing nothing.
Details about the location or what happened to the truck are unknown at this stage.
