The newly elected African National Congress in Kwa-Zulu Natal has come out calling for the complete scrapping of the much disputed 2017 step aside resolution.
The party stated in its pronouncements following its three-day provincial convention that it no longer only desired a review of the rule but also that it be repealed.
Over the weekend, the “Taliban” faction won all of the senior party seats in the province with a landslide.

Due to the restriction, some leaders—including secretary-general Ace Magashule, Zandile Gumede, and others—have been prevented from assuming their positions.
Speaking at the conference the newly-elected provincial secretary, Bheki Mtolo said:
“The conference wants to holistically review the step-aside resolution in order to position the movement in a trajectory for unity and renewal.
By the way, it seems the step-aside is a law that only applies to those who are ANC members,”
“Therefore the conference resolved that delegates at the national conference must forward the proposal that the step-aside must not be reviewed but must be scrapped.”Mtolo said.
