WATCH: Armed robbers attack a church of Pentecost branch in Joburg CBD.
Armed men have attacked and plundered the Johannesburg branch of the Ghanaian worship of Pentecost during a worship service.
This is not the first time criminals have robbed a church in the past few months. In October a similar incident occurred when six armed men invaded Eagle Christian Church in Newlands, Johannesburg. The suspect shot and killed a Prophet, Dwayne Gordon.
The latest heist which was caught on video took place on Sunday, October 29. In addition to being looted, a church deacon was also taken hostage during the assault.

The Ghanaian government has expressed its shock and urged all members of the community to protect themselves against such incidents.
Ghana’s High Commission sent a notice to the community living in South Africa and wrote:
“The attention of the High Commission of the Republic of Ghana has been drawn to an incident in which members of the congregation of the Johannesburg branch of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost were robbed of their valuables at gunpoint and a Deacon of the church kidnapped during church service on 29th October 2023.
“Mission wishes to advise all members of the Ghanaian community to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and wellbeing. The mission will update the Community of any further developments related to the case,” read the notice from the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria
The Ghana High Commission in South Africa says they are working with the Church of Pentecost in cooperation with the South Africa Police Service to rescue the elder who was kidnapped. https://t.co/99JWoyhP5x pic.twitter.com/826hIaU3kH
